Visit of the art magazine Recto Verso Magazine to our studios

With the arrival of the young entrepreneur Tanguy Van Quickenborne, the same man who masterfully runs the renowned marble factory Van den Weghe, a new wind is blowing through the artisanal company Emaillerie Belge, founded in 1920.

It is one of the only ones that survives in Benelux. Previously specializing in enamel plaques (the signage in the Paris metro is theirs!, the billboards for Spa, Duvel and others are also theirs), the new director, interested in art and architecture, took on the challenge of making the project much more artistic. I bought the enamel store because it was on the verge of bankruptcy and I didn't want the legacy to be lost. In addition, I saw a lot of possibilities and connections between enamel and natural stone. I especially like the depth. And then I'm a little nostalgic, I like to mix the old with contemporary projects.

And it is quite successful! He invited his friends Fien Muller and Hannes Van Severen to design an object made of 100% enamel. The project "Fireworks" was then born and it was bingo at the "Salone Mobile" in Milan. The five majestically presented screens are dazzling with intense colors and depth. The pair of leading designers, praised by the Italian and international press, went on to win the Design Prize, awarded by Abitare & Designboom. After Muller Van Severen, other friends and artists will appear in the workshop such as Glenn Sestig, Joris Vandemoortel, Sergio Herman, Kasper Bosmans, Kris Martin, Damian O'sullivan (Hermès) or Marc Merckx. We have many surprises in store as we continue to achieve what Emaillerie has always brilliantly accomplished.
