Quobus by Marc Newson for Galerie kreo

Designer Marc Newson designed 'Quobus', a modular display unit made of enameled steel cubes, for the world-renowned French art gallery Galerie Kreo. We were commissioned to enamel the cubes in fresh colors: off white, charcoal, pastel green, pastel violet and pastel blue.

Description

Newson wanted to counteract sagging, ineffective bookshelves while creating something sculptural. The modular display unit provides a storage solution for books and creates a separate environment for exhibits within each cube.

The Quobus units are either monochromatic, two-color or multicolor, formed by a combination of three cubes of different sizes. Each cube is enameled in one of five colors (off white, charcoal, pastel green, pastel violet and pastel blue) and is secured with copper screws to form a larger unit, which is sold in different configurations and sizes.

Australian Marc Newson is considered one of the most influential designers of his generation. He has worked in a very wide range of disciplines and his clients include some of the world's best-known and most prestigious brands, spanning a variety of sectors from furniture, luxury goods and technology to ship, automotive and aviation design.
