Seinä Bench by Julien Renault

The SEINÄ Bench - designed by Julien Renault - was created for the exhibition "Social Seating," curated by Jasper Morrison. Morrison invited eighteen designers chosen by him to design and build a bench for the paths of the first Fiskars Village Biennale.

Description

Julien Renault needed a material that could convey intense colors to mimic nature. The material also had to be able to reflect nature. That's how he ended up with Emaillerie Belge.

SEINÄ means "wall" in Finnish. The bench is conceived more as a piece of architecture than a classic four-legged public bench. Besides being extremely durable and easy to maintain, the glossy vitreous enamel finish reflects its surroundings, water, trees and architecture, just as the nearby water does.
