Created by Jean Graton and published by Dupuis, Michel Vaillant has become one of the most influential motorsport comic series ever created since the 1950s. More than just a comic book character, Vaillant represents speed, precision, and craftsmanship. The bold lines and vibrant colors of the artwork are brought to life beautifully in enamel.
The artwork "Le Mans '57" is based on a key moment in the Michel Vaillant saga and first appeared as in Le Journal Tintin in 1957.
The scene takes place during the legendary 24 Hours of Le Mans. It’s 3:30 a.m. when Michel Vaillant is given the order to push flat out. At that moment, he’s in second place, behind Ferrari, followed by the Jaguars and the yellow Vaillante. In this story— La 24e Heure —Jean Graton not only showcases his talent as an artist, but also his ability to reveal the behind-the-scenes world of motorsport with a true journalist’s eye. It’s a vivid and dynamic scene from one of the most iconic races in the world.
